A simple, playful, functional design.

Idea

The founder wanted me to develop a digital product that would allow customers to order clothing repairs. Her company would then collect garments from customers’ homes and return them at its best in a few days.

Cheap clothing production incurs massive social as well as environmental costs. Many garments are simply discarded, even after minor damage, because it is too inconvenient to repair.

To bring about improvement in this situation, MEND sought to provide an easy high quality service.

My job included the planning and the design of a website for a start-up delivery service for clothing repair, but I also participated the conceptualization phase.

Design process

First idea

In the first attempt, I put most of the work into icons that would ensure the intuitive usability of ordering panel.

However, the amount of items was hard to navigate through.

Correction & redesign

A redesign to reduce visual load would have gone beyond the frame, so I decided to go for a simple layout. Because of that, I replaced the selection by cards by a well proven drop down munu.

I also redesigned several times:

Finally, I chosed the life-affirming, cheerful color palette. It met the original customer request best anyway.
